Date: 18th June 2024
Time: 11:00 am

AWAKE, ASLEEP AND DREAMS (WAS I DREAMING?)

Abstract: This talk will explain how our brains make us awake or asleep and can make us
dream. It will show how different parts of the brain are responsible for keeping us awake
and making us go to sleep. It will also explain how we have different kinds of
sleep and why we dream. Members might like to talk about their own dreams
and the meaning of dreams will be discussed.

The talk will start with a simple description of the structure of the brain, how nerves work and how different parts of the
brain are responsible for keeping us awake and making us go to sleep.

About the Speaker: Dr Bob Pullen is a retired University Lecturer who has spent
many years giving lectures on the brain to Medical, Pharmacy and Biology students. He
has also undertaken brain research in England and America. He has a Doctoral Degree
in Neuroscience from Oxford University and has learned many interesting facts about
the human brain, which he will include in this talk.
